Gosh time flew by so fast, summer came and went, fall was gone in a blink and now winter is coming up on us. Campers kept us on our toes and we were glad they all had a good time. Now it’s winter sun and chilly nights, perfect for a nice campfire to take off the chill with a good beverage. Our campground has stayed dry and the gravel keeps mud out of the RV’s. The road to the campground is hard packed gravel and so is the turnaround area. Our local deer still pass thru but the squirrels are in their burrows for the winter. The regular fox and raccoon still visit during the night. Columbia State Park is open year round and the stores are open too. The pickle pizza at the St Charles saloon is a local favorite as well as Mandy’s for breakfast. Columbia Frosty for burgers, fish and chips and now serves beer on tap is also a local hit. Inner Sanctum Basecamp for wine tasting and beer hut just a few minutes down the road. And if you want snow, you can drive up Hwy 108 to find it and come back to camp to warm up. Yosemite is about an hour to the park entrance and winter there is now my favorite time of the year there. The stillness, the sounds of the falls echoing and the crisp clean air is refreshing to my mind and soul. So when you need a break, get away and go camping in your RV.
